Cheers to Twenty-Six

One of my favorite things to do on my birthday is get dressed up and go to dinner. It sounds simple, but there are a few caveats. Dressing up could be defined as anything from a fancy dress to something fun, sexy, and out of the ordinary. I just love to put on something fun and different to treat myself to either my favorite restaurant or perhaps one that is normally outside our date night price range. Since this is my favorite thing to do on my birthday, it’s no surprise that we did the same thing this year. We got dressed up and we went to my favorite sushi restaurant, Roka Akor.

For my outfit this year, I was feeling risky. I wanted to wear something comfortable, but sexy. I wanted to show off my curves but also accentuate the 27 lb loss I’ve had since my last birthday. In addition to all those emotions, I also wanted to be warm (it was only 40 degrees!) This was a pretty tough spot to be in. So as I have tried to do all season, I went out of my comfort zone. I paired this lace up onesie with high waisted jeans, an oversized sweater, and some booties. To literally top it all off, I fixed my hair in a high top pony that always makes me feel powerful.  I even wore a new deep plum lipstick.

Of all the years that I’ve had this tradition, this is my favorite birthday outfit I’ve cooked up.  I felt everything that I wanted to feel. I felt so pretty and beautiful as Big A wisked me off into the night to celebrate. From the champagne to him quietly singing happy birthday to me as I blew out a candle over some Taro Pudding, this night was so special. It’s certainly one that I wouldn’t forget.

So here’s to 26. Cheers! HER – Onsie: Torrid (similar here) // Sweater: H&M (similar here) // Booties: ALDO (similar here) Jeans: American Eagle (here)
