We’ve been in Chicago for a little over two weeks now and with all that we’ve done trying to get settled we haven’t made much time for exploration in our new city. So this weekend we pulled a double hitter and had some fun:
Friday Night: We got all jazzed up and went west of the river for some jazz at an old bar called Andy’s Jazz Club. We listened to some tunes from the Bobby Lewis Quintet, had some drinks (including a killer mule), some good food, and a good time. With all the moving and the planning, it was nice to disappear for awhile together + we love any occasion to get dressed up!
Saturday: We went all over the damn town. We went up State Street, visited the Public Library, the Cultural Center, did a little shopping in Lincoln Park, and ended with some good ole Italian Beef Sandwiches at Portillos. We’ve heard we should try the chocolate cake…maybe we’ll do that next time!
It was a great weekend and I have to say that I’m sad to see it coming to an end. Luckily this week is bringing all kinds of good things including: starting my new job tomorrow(!!!), seeing Beauty and the Beast on it’s final tour at the Cadillac Palace (our first theatre in Chicago!), and a movie date night on Friday to see Through the Looking Glass. Life is looking pretty good.
