cloud gate

A few weeks ago, Big A and made the journey to Chicago to pick out an apartment and interview for jobs. It was pretty chilly, but because we had some downtime we decided to go by Millennium Park and see Cloud Gate, “the Bean”. Iconic Chicago, the bean is one of the first things I fell in love with when I came to see the city for the first time back in 2010. It’s crazy to think that was only six years ago. I remember wandering around downtown with my sister and her (then boyfriend) husband trying to find the hidden bean. We almost walked six blocks away from it, when we stopped to ask a Chicagoan where it was, “Just on the other side of this building”. We walked across the street and found our way through the park until the colossal bean appeared reflecting the city skyline. It was one of the first moments in my life that felt like I was standing in the presence of something bigger than myself.

The bean is special to me, triggering not only that memory, but many more to come with Big A by my side in our new found home!
